I’m Aaron Alexander, a product and technology leader based in Wilmington, North Carolina.
I lead Product and Development at Education Advanced, where I’m responsible for product management, software engineering, and the platforms behind our K–12 education products. Our work helps schools and districts manage testing, support student planning, and grow their educators.
I started my career as a software engineer and spent nearly two decades building software before moving into product leadership. That background still shapes how I work: I care about the customer problem, the technical reality, and the organizational system needed to connect the two.
Much of my work sits at the intersection of product strategy, engineering leadership, data, and organizational design. I’m especially interested in:
- Building product and engineering teams that share ownership of outcomes
- Turning complex operational problems into software people can understand and trust
- Creating platforms and data systems that make future product development easier
- Applying AI where it creates measurable value without weakening human judgment
- Helping people and teams grow through clarity, context, and honest feedback
A few things I believe:
- Product strategy requires choices. A roadmap is not a list of everything worth doing.
- Strong engineering teams need context and autonomy, not just requirements.
- Technology in education should support educators and students, not place more machinery between them.
- AI should reduce repetitive work and sharpen decisions — not quietly become the decision-maker.
- Good systems make good behavior easier, whether the system is software, a team, or an organization.
- Thoughtful disagreement usually produces better work than easy consensus.
This site is where I write to clarify my thinking — mostly on product leadership, software development, EdTech, AI, organizational systems, and the practical work of turning strategy into results.
